Diane Evans

Pigmented collages

Diane Evans studied at Central/ St. Martin’s School of Art in London (BA Hons Fine Art- Painting), where she was influenced by the working practice of tutors Tricia Gillman, Vanessa Jackson and Anthony Whishaw. Since graduating, she has lived in Italy, India and Singapore.
Diane specialises in pigmented collages with strong, semi-abstract forms. Silhouette shapes, achieved by stencilling, printing or cut- away collage are symbolic of vegetal forms; cells, leaves and seeds. Her imagery is rooted in the colour and shapes of the natural environment, celebrating life, growth and decay. Diane’s works are created gradually by building, dissolving and reforming layers of paint; her excavations reveal traces of imprinted plant matter, embedded raw wool fibre and eruptions of slate dust and ash.
